Video Archive 2015
outofsite_chi has been creating unexpected encounters in public spaces in Chicago, U.S. since 2011. The video archive includes short five minute video excerpts on the durational public performance art pieces we have curated and produced. The performances in 2015 happened sporadically over the month of July and August creating thirty-five unexpected encounters in the neighborhood of Wicker Park and Bucktown. Some performance like Michal Samama began at 7am on Monday and where the performance stopped at 8am she would start on the Tuesday at the same time working her way through the week. CV Peterson tooke her studio to the streets working from 9am to 5pm engaging the public in the practice of her studio. The collection in 2015 was filmed and edited by Laura Mitchell who we have worked with since 2013. It is part of OoS’s commitment to support women in media and assisting them to carve out careers in the Media Industry. To find out more about each participating artist you can read the bios on the central archive page.
The public performance art festival was envisioned through the On Occasion think tank in collaboration with OoS co-director, Kevin Sparrow (for OoS 2015) held at Chicago Cultural Center and supported by Propeller Fund 2014.
