Our Services

There are four strands to our work: live public performance art; Flow • embody in site, a symposium; Artist Focus, a weekly conversation with artists; Workshops in public performance art.

Live Public Performance Art

outofsite_chi creates live public performance art festivals prioritizing work that is interactive with the public. We have worked with Wicker Park/ Bucktown since 2011 to create annual events. In 2013 we were invited to curate and produce a performance art program for West Town Art Walk and have worked with Chicago Park District to curate and produce live public performances in 2016, 2021, 2023. Most recently, we curated and produced Intercity in partnership with WORM, Rotterdam, Netherlands. This program was co-curated with ieke Trinks and PAE.

Flow • embody in site

outofsite_chi organizes an annual practice-based research symposium on public performance art practices. This includes practice-based workshops with world renowned practitioners, artist presentations by people working in the field and a live performance art festival live streamed to different community venues around the globe.

Artist Focus

We provide an open platform for artists to reflect on their public performance art practice and be in dialogue with our broader community about diverse methods of working in public contexts.

Workshops

outofsite_chi provides support and training in public performance art practices. We invite artists who are specialists in our field to create practice-based workshops. When registering for one of our workshops please note these are practice-based and you will be invited to create performances in outdoor contexts.

Mentorship

As a collective of artists you can reach out to organize a conversation with one of us about your practice. This might be feedback on your current portfolio or if you would like to develop a live stream performance. We are here to support the development and creation of live public performance art.

Engage Communities

As an artist collective outofsite_chi is committed to engaging with diverse communities and making culture accessible for everyone. We create cutting edge performances that bring joy, humour and contemplative ideas to communities. We believe in the power of culture to build hope and peace in our communities.

  • Flow Archive

We partner with academic research institutions for our annual research conference on public performance art practices. This gives institutions access to the presentations by artists, curators, and scholars for students interested in this field.
