PERFORMANCE: “How to protest like a pigeon”

Adriana Disman is an anti-racist queer feminist performance art maker, thinker, and curator based in Toronto and Montreal. She is first generation Canadian by way of Iraq and the Czech Republic. Disman’s performance art has been presented in galleries and festivals across Canada and the US, including Mobius Inc. (Boston); Visualeyez (Edmonton); Intersite (Calgary); Xpace/Images Festival, VSVSVS, Buddies (TO); SKOL, Studio 303, among others. Her photography and performance work has been published in ETC Contemporary Art Magazine, Passive Collective Vols. 2 & 3, and Kapsula Art Criticism Magazine.

Disman is the curator of LINK & PIN performance art series (TO/MTL), coordinator of RATS 9 Gallery (MTL), and sits on the board of directors of The School of Making Thinking (New York). She is co-founder of Lines of Flight (LoF) Institute for Performance, Spirituality, and Politics (MTL). She holds an M.A. in Theatre and Performance Studies from York University and is a graduate of the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre (NYC).
