On Occasion

A Monthly Think Tank on Public Performance in Chicago
On Occasion is hosted at Chicago Cultural Center and organized by Out of Site Chicago. The next Think Tank meeting will be held on April 25 from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm with guest speaker Michael Rohd. Meghan Moe Beitiks, Robin Deacon and Melissa Potter were our previous guest speakers. Each speaker has been invited to discuss their own work and or thoughts on public performance from specialized concerns. Each speaker will present a different perspective from around the globe. We hope to give a broad presentation of the genre and after each speaker we will break off into workshop sessions to discuss the ideas and thoughts generated on public performance. Our hope is to generate lively debate and tackle the issues that surround public performance and its public perception. At this turning point in the 21st Century how do we engage public space and present diverse forms of cultural experiences that vitalize our society.
